Focus on the positive.

The ratio of positive to negative feedback from you to your child should be at least 3 to 1: 3 positives for every negative.

Support, notice and reward desirable behaviour.

Structure, supervise, model, guide and prompt.

Educate yourself, your family, friends and the school about ADD/ADHD.

Establish a good relationship with the school.

Maintain, realistic expectations of your child.

Remember, the child with ADD does best one-to-one.

Get your child's attention in a quiet way before making a request.

Be clear about the rules and the consequences - briefer is better.

Remember your relationship with your child is important - don't sweat the small stuff!
